Course
description: Reading
Connects, a DCSF-funded National Reading Campaign initiative, seeks
to support schools in developing a whole-school reading culture. This
session will consider important reading-for-pleasure research; practical
ideas for developing school reading cultures; how to get the boys on
board through Reading Champions and how to engage families. Sarah Osborne
will also provide an opportunity for schools to learn about and join
Reading Connects.
"The Reading
Connects scheme and this associated Schools Library Service training
is an important element of a renewed drive to find innovative ways to
improve reading in our schools.
The scheme has, at its heart, a desire to encourage our children to
see reading as a life-long habit. This training will offer schools fresh
approaches, models of good practice and practical ideas of how to refocus
on developing reading. An opportunity not to be missed! " Liz Jones,
