Course
description: This
course will explore the dichotomy between what staff want and what students
want and get tips for simple changes which bring these needs closer.
It will develop techniques and strategies for coping with and supporting
these students and ending up with a win-win situation.
This is a practical interactive course for staff who wish to develop
their management of behaviour and strategies for improved communication.
It will also provide an opportunity for learning resources staff to
compare techniques of dealing with challenging pupils.

Tutor:
Ronnie has been a teacher all her working life. Following seven years
teaching English in schools (and running two school libraries). She
spent some time working with excluded students, school phobics and young
offenders before going into further education. Ronnie has presented
courses at a national level for a number of years and is a specialist
in behaviour management and inter-personal and communication skills.
As well as being an OFSTED/ALI inspector for post-14 education she also
works for and with the National Autistic Society and is a member of
the LSDA "Support 4 Success" team, working on quality improvement.
