| Based
on the Hertfordshire Carnegie-Greenaway shortlists each school sent
up to 6 pupils to the discussion day. Pupils were expected to have
read all the novels and picture books and be willing to discuss the
titles within their discussion groups. To take account of the wide
variety of ages of participating schools we held separate discussion
sessions for primary and secondary schools. |
| The
guest speakers were
Steve Barlow & Steve Skidmore, otherwise known as 'the 2 Steves'
and authors of the hilarious Lost Diaries series and Tales of the
Dark Forest series. They enthused the children about the writing process;
spoke about being authors, working together and using events in their
own lives in their books; and announced the winners of Hertfordshire's
Children's Choice which were Looking for jj by Anne Cassidy
and Guess who's coming to dinner by John Kelly and Cathy
Ticknell. |
